Natalie and Karen discuss season 3, episode 7 of Teen Wolf, "Currents."

Featured Song: "Help Me!" by The Sweet Serenades

Discussion:

- Not Another Teen Wolf Podcast is going to San Diego Comic-Con!

- Natalie vibed that this episode was written by Jeff Davis, before looking it up.

- Talking about our favorite quotes.

- Cora and Lydia's interactions make Natalie want to see those two in a buddy comedy. Also, what sitcom does she deem "the worst show in the world?"

- Has “It's all a dream...” ever worked? In the history of ever?

- That adorable Scisaac scene: what Isaac admitting that he failed his watch actually means for his character, and his place in the McCall family.

- Scott's pain-relieving powers - how obligated should he feel to use these?

- That beautiful “human contact can help with pain” metaphor.

- Dethan feels!

- Was Danny's poisoning ever properly explained? Like, properly?

- Queen Melissa. Melissa is Queen.

- In these circumstances, Scott reverts back to a little kid who thinks his mom can do anything.

- Spoiler alert: that's because SHE CAN.

- Ethan now wishes Melissa was his mom too.

- Another bug invasion, but Natalie would rather be taken by moths than some of the other bugs we've seen.

- Is the Darach breaking up into little insect particles, or are they merely messengers?

- Ethan has feeeeeelings. Ethan is going to fold so soon.

- The Alpha Pack discovered that Lydia is more important? Does this mean to Scott personally, or to the pack/supernatural world? Do they mean emotionally or powerfully?

- Karen is still certain that Lydia is playing Aiden.

- The new set of sacrifices is the "healer" trilogy.

- We think this episode might be a little while after "Motel California" - maybe a week. Once again we're tracking the moon cycles.

- Harris's body has still not been discovered?

- Hey, neither has the other teacher - Natalie got totally misguided and invented something crazy in her brain about that.

- Was Jennifer Blake's slip-up while teaching Harris's class sinister, or just derpy? Haley Webb's answers on the Teen Wolf: Revelations interview that followed this week's episode make us flip back and forth about Blake.

- How does the Darach choose the victims?

- Is the selection process also to do with the currents? We want to take a better look at those maps.

- Isaac and Boyd are so protective of Derek - is it because they know he's incompetent?

- The focus on Boyd before his untimely demise may have been a tropey narrative device, but it worked.

- Natalie was spoiled on Twitter for who the death was going to be, but we agree that the way he died was still very shocking.

- Natalie is insistent that the Sheriff knows already. Regardless, Scott and Stiles debate telling him.

- What does it mean that Stiles concedes?

- So Morell and Deaton are actually brother and sister?

- Why is Deaton so invested in the wolves? Could be be, like, a werewolf Squib?

- Morell's conversation with Scott and Stiles - they took it to mean Lydia, but is that what she actually meant? Also, what is she so stuck in that she can't go help Deaton herself?

- Cora warning Lydia off Aiden goes from funny to a strange parallel of a typical harassment scene, and naturally Stiles saves the day.

- This group then becomes a big, weird, unexpected threesome for the rest of the episode.

- Did Stiles actually overhear the conversation between the girls? What does he think of Lydia and Aiden?

- Was the séance a way of showing us what Lydia cannot do, perhaps narrowing down our ideas of what she can do?

- Was Lydia telling them to ask Danny a subtle way of her power coming through, or did that come from sheer logic? Did she know about Danny's illness?

- Danny was researching the telluric currents, but these are a natural phenomenon. Surely this is public record - why was it such a big deal that Danny knew? Was there more to it than that?

- We just want Danny to be special, okay?

- What does Deucalion know? Why is he telling Scott? How many pairs of aviators does he have? Why does he fight with a stabby cane? Most importantly - the relationship between the Alpha pack and the Darach. WHAT IS IT?

- Regardless, Natalie loves the elegance of his fight with Scott.

- The sacrifice method is different this time. Why? Also, what will it mean that one sacrifice (Deaton) wasn't successful?

- The scene between Melissa and the Sheriff had an interesting dynamic.

- Chris Argent and his maps. What are you doing, Chris Argent? Is he the Darach? Is he protecting something?

- He should really tell someone, especially if he is predicting where the bodies will be found.

- Did y'all notice that they kept repeatedly framing him in shot alongside those vintage butterfly prints?

- Natalie suddenly comes up with a very plausible reason why Chris may be protecting this secret.

- Apparently Deucalion isn't the only one who's practised saying their bad-guy entrance prompt line. Nice, Kali.

- "I'm gonna rip your throat out with my teeth." - why the repetition?

- We research the telluric currents along with the team. It is real, so why did Harris warn Danny off it?

- What would this podcast be without another Buffy reference?

- Telluric currents have diurnal characteristics - the flow changes. Could this be affected by the eclipse?

- Karen appreciates the new meaning behind "Beacon Hills."

- How did Cora know Deaton was in the vault? Also, was that thing with Stiles and Cora's hands weirdly intense?

- Okay, so both the Alpha pack and the Darach are using that vault?

- We discuss magical properties vs magical human beings - for example, the Darach using mountain ash.

- Karen and Natalie both have different, random theories about Stiles, Cora and romance.

- We analyze the hell out of that Look between Stiles and Lydia. We kind of want them to be in love.

- So the Sheriff saves Deaton – how did he know what Scott's trouble was?

- He totally knows all the secrets.

- How did he find them? Why didn't he think Deaton having Celtic herb vials was weird?

- It's because he KNOWS ALL THE SECRETS.

- Will next week's flashback episode address this?

- We don't really want to talk about the death scene.

- But.

- Why did Kali give up on killing Derek? Was killing Derek even her plan that day?

- Why did those wounds kill Boyd? We're confused by the healing again.

- Was it because he was affected by the electrocution? But why was Derek wolfed out?

- We've never seen Derek so wrecked.

- Natalie fails to say “eclipse” twice in a row in a way that's impossible to edit out.

- Was the Erica scene memory-sharing, or just a flashback? Either way, we agree that it's fitting for her character.

- What was Ms Blake's reaction to seeing that whole incident? Haley's discussion on Teen Wolf: Revelations makes Blake sound quite innocent.

- How will she react to being kidnapped by students?

- Why was Stiles the one to go to Derek in his moment of grief? We discuss the parallel to Scott's quote at the episode's opening, and the fact that this moment was set up, technically, as the climax of that scene.

- What story, precisely, does Chris need to get out of Gerard, and what is Allison hoping to achieve?

- Natalie, horribly, admits that we need more Gerard in order to find out what the heck is going on.

- Deaton explains the True Alpha, and saying he "believed" it would be Scott... A bit worshippy, no?

- We like the concept of the True Alpha, but - though we adore Scott - is he seriously the best human being in living memory to receive the bite? Surely it happens to other perfectly normal and decent people.

- Of course, we've seen nothing to prove that Scott isn't the exception - every other werewolf tends to give in to a questionable moral code rather quickly.

- If Scott becomes an alpha with his own pack, will he take all of Derek's friends away?

- Isaac belongs to Scott for sure. Side-note: Natalie can't believe how much she used to hate Isaac.

- In general, we praise the hell out of this episode, we think it's the epitome of Teen Wolf's brilliance.

- Some people thought Peter would be the one to die this week - Natalie makes a weird Harry Potter comparison to explain why she didn't think it would be him.

- In the feedback section, we discuss the potential strength or special powers of a True Alpha.

- The Celtic symbol on the bank – who runs the bank? Was it a "Wolfram and Hart" style cover-up?

- We recommend you watch the Teen Wolf: Revelations episode, hosted by Jill Wagner!

- We almost forget our big announcement.

- We announce our exclusive interview - a star of Teen Wolf season 3 will be appearing on our podcast next week!

- Finally, we farewell Karen off to Comic-Con.
