In "The Frost-King; or, The Power of Love," a fairy, Violet, undertakes a mission to the Frost-King, who is ruthlessly killing all the flowers in the land. Confined by the king to a dark dungeon, Violet exhausts herself working underground to nourish the roots of the withered flowers.
