Joining us in this episode is Jeff 'the voice' Evans. Such an engaging listen! We talk about the charity effort from the first class umpires called First Class Walk, which Jeff explains in the podcast. We also chat umpiring and he tips a young Gloucestershire star!

First Class Walks will follow the efforts of the 33 ECB First Class umpires as they attempt to walk the equivalent distance of walking from the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan to Old Trafford, Manchester and back in 3 months. The total distance is 9,436 miles! Any monies raised will go to 3 worthy charities:
PCA Benevolent Fund (Cricketers Trust) https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thefirstclasswalkpca
Prostate Cancer UK https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thefirstclasswalk
British Asian Trust https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/the-first-class-walk
The distance to be covered is almost the distance that they would, as group, cover on field whilst umpiring during a domestic cricket season. The idea for the walk came during the Covid 19 lock down, to not lose the miles that they would normally cover.
Please be generous in your support as the umpires set out either on foot, by bike, or on a rowing machine to cover what will prove to be a significant challenge.
