Tammy J. Toney-Butler RN, CEN, TCRN, CPEN is returning to Once a Nurse for the 2nd half of her conversation from 10/7/19. This session we will discuss: 1) ROOT CAUSES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING and 2) LONG TERM, TRAUMA INFORMED-SURVIVOR CENTERED CARE. Tammy has decades of nursing experience spent as an ED/trauma nurse & a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Tammy is extraordinarily well-versed in the realities of Human Trafficking of children & adults. She interacts closely with Commercial Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) and is herself a trauma survivor. We will talk about how nurses and other healthcare providers can pick up on the symptoms of abuse as patients come to us for health assistance/ surgery. Many times we are their 1st (and probably their ONLY) line of defense for these victims, who are closely guarded by their handlers. To contact Tammy: tammy@path2freedom.org. Join us for this eye-opening and terrifying discussion.
