When we think of Nurses, the first thought is probably of a woman. In reality, men have been in the role of nurse for most of Human History. There are records of the first nursing school in 250 B.C. in India, which admitted only men. We know that they functioned in Europe during plagues and certainly in most wars. It has really only been in the 19th-20th centuries when women became the predominant or ONLY people accepted to nursing schools in the USA. Until the about the 70's. Since then the % of men in nursing has tripled from 2.7% to 9.6%.
This show is a conversation with 3 extraordinary men who all started as RN's working in hospitals and then developed their careers to a great degree. They will share what it is like to be a male nurse--the positives and drawbacks along with what men can bring to the role of nursing and so much more!
