Nurses across the country are drowning from the overwhelm of COVID-19 patients, lack of PPE, lack of support from some of their hospitals/administrations/Federal/State/Local governments. They are even drowning from the waves of people wishing them well & calling them (S)Heros. They don’t feel like (S)Heros. They feel like they are striving to save patients, they have not even had time to meet before they die—1-4 per shift. They are used to seeing FAR more success than LOSS. They are drowning in unshed tears and tamped down fears, because they can’t allow themselves to go there without fear of NOT being able to come back. My guest this week is Steve Gavatorta, owner of Steve Gavatorta Group, who spends his time teaching, speaking & coaching people from diverse backgrounds (including nurses & healthcare providers) on how to deal with this kind of adversity, build resilience in the face of adversity to NOT just survive, but thrive.
