In a world in which humans have become more and more polarized in our views, communication and hearing, healthcare sits right on the middle of the conflicts. Not only do people in healthcare have extreme pressure and choices in their work, but the people in the world holding all of those polarized positions work there. My guest David Ball is a nurse with a LOT of varied experience in healthcare and has recently joined a group called, Better Angels. This group is traveling the country with a program that allows people with different political views to sit down next to one another and learn 4 skills: 1) Setting a constructive tone; 2) Listening; 3) Speaking; 4) Handling Difficult moments. David will talk about how these skills can be used in any conflict experience, but especially in healthcare. To create a world in which we all want to live and work peacefully, we MUST learn and practice these skills. What better a place to start than healthcare?
