The desire to have your body match the internal sense of yourself is NOT new. The number of people courageously & openly taking the steps surgically & pharmacologically to make that happen and the healthcare opportunities to succeed IS more new. To care for these amazing people, will require a new breed of nurse to assist these individuals through their ongoing process of claiming their true bodies. I remember in the 60's & 70's going through years of angst around, Who am I? Many, if not most of us, were thinking in a metaphorical manner. These individuals are dealing with who they know themselves to be internally, NOT matching who their Birth Certificate, mirror and everyone around them says they are. My guest today, Shannon Whittington, has molded her career toward helping these individuals by training nurses to care for them. Classes to train nurses for Transgender & Gender Non-Binary (TGNB) Clients are here and available in much of the USA. Join us!
