This show will be the start of an ongoing periodic look at how personal understanding can make us a better nurse.

I want to spend a bit of time on Personality assessments in general and Myers-Briggs more specifically. This is a fun topic, but actually taking an assessment and getting personal feedback is an easy way of starting to understand and appreciate ourselves. This, ironically, leads to understanding and appreciating others. This can lead to some personal wisdom about how to interact with others in a positive and respectful way.

For a Nurse, what could be better than to understand why a patient, family member, doctor, coworker, etc. might talk and interact with us in a way that is unfamiliar, uncomfortable and conflict laden. More important, how to stop the negative flow of the interaction and move it toward a positive outcome.
