Nicholas Whitlock at only 21 years old has been a member of Team Zealand 3 times and was selected to be a member of Team Zealand’s mixed team for the 2020 World Ultimate and Guts Championships that have been postponed. He has represented the U20 open team twice, once in 2016 and as a captain in 2018 and played for the U24 open team in 2019. He has played for Auckland-based open team Groot for 5 years before switching over to play for the Wellington Wildcats in 2021. With his university team, Auckland University Ultimate Club, Nicholas has won two university national championships.




In this interview, hear Nicholas share his experience starting with the national program as a 15-year-old and what ultimate is like in New Zealand. We talk about what has led him to become the player he is today, the goals he has as a player and the hopes he has for the growth of the sport in New Zealand.
