Rowan McDonnell is a player for the DC Breeze, DC Truck Stop, and founder of Excel Ultimate. Rowan was the 2018 American Ultimate Disc League MVP, and was named Ultiworld’s 2018 Men’s Club Offensive Player of the Year, and 1st team all-club. In 2020, he was selected to the national USA men’s ultimate team that was set to play in the 2020 World Ultimate and Guts Championships. In this interview, Rowan talks about his journey in the club division going from unknown player to making Boston Ironside, getting cut the following year, and then thriving in a larger role with DC Truck Stop ever since. We talk about his work with Excel Ultimate and we discuss the power of building stars and personal brands in ultimate.
