Murray Silver is a fifth-generation resident of Savannah, Georgia. His family has lived there since the 1840's, and it is because some of his ancestors are among Savannah's most famous hauntings that he has become one of America's leading authorities on ghosts. He is the host of the PBS television series Haunted South, and publishes the bible of local haunted tour guides, Haunted Savannah.

Murray is perhaps best known as the author of the book Great Balls of Fire: The Uncensored Story of Jerry Lee Lewis, which was made into the movie starring Dennis Quaid and Winona Ryder. He is also the author of a book about the death of Elvis Presley, a collection of true stories about Savannah, and most recently, his memoirs, entitled When Elvis Meets the Dalai Lama.

A former rock concert promoter and tour photographer, he has already--at age 54--lived a colorful life.
