Benefits as members of God's Family
Count your Blessings
This song appeals to 3 fundamental assumptions about human nature:

1. That we are all social being (relationship with one another and by extension - with God)
2. That we are, on one hand, creatures for benefits / gains
3. And on the other hand, very forgetful of these benefits or that we take them for granted.
Reasons why we often forget or take for granted these benefits is because:
1. We tend to focus of short-term, instantaneous, tangible and often short lived benefits.
2. We are buried under life issues and circumstances that we forget what He promises, what He has done and what He is about to do for us.
What is a Family?
In our societies, the family is the oldest principal institution for the socialisation of children. It is an agency that serves as a basic unit for raising children. One of the primary functions of the family involves nurturing and preparing children in life.
A framework for what a family does:

How do you become a member of God’s Family?

John 1: 12-13 (NKJV)
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Titus 3 :1-7
1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. 3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Galatians 4:5
...'to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.’

Ephesians 1:5
...'having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,'

Romans 8:15
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
….forget not all His benefits Psalm 103 :1-5 1

-a process of recognising His power and His plans for our lives. We yield everything to Him and trusting that He will act in His time and His way.

Scripture illustrates God's care in our
physical,
spiritual,
emotional and
mental needs

In John 17: 17 Jesus prayed for His disciples "Sanctify them by your truth. Truth leads to spiritual understanding. And also in Verse 20, prayed for believers for unity.
Provision:

Physical needs
Spiritual needs

We do think of Joseph as a type of Christ in terms of God supplying our needs. Genesis 45:11 After Joseph met with his brothers, he said to them : There ( referring to Goshen) I will provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.”’

Philippians 4:19-20 - And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Genesis 22:8 -And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.

2 Corinthians 9:8 - And God is able to make all grace abound towards you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things for every good work....
