The Meekness of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Convergence of Authority and Meekness of the Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Review of What the Bible says about His Authority
Some Instances of Christ’ Demonstrations of His Authority (past, present and future)
NOTE: The authority of Jesus Christ as a King did not come by Himself (not Charismatic, Traditional, Representative) nor through any Roman powers, but he came by the Word and the Will of the Heavenly Father (Divine) . If He is a King, then He must have Kingdom. And His Kingdom is not of this world we are told (John 18:36)
Past (Prior to His Humanity)
Genesis 3:15
Jeremiah 23:6 Salvation will come as a result of His kingship
Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass”
John 1:49).
John 12:13
Present: (The God-Man)
Bible Is replete with historical accounts of His Authority (Jesus Ministry)
Luke 4:35-36
Matt 8: 26
Luke 4:20-22 20
Future:

Revelation 5: 8-10
Question: “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made [d]us kings[e] and priests to our God;
And [f]we shall reign on the earth
Meekness
What is Meekness?: Meaning: Strength in Control
Prophesy concerning His meekness:
Isaiah 53:7
Psalms 22: 6-8
Litmus test for Meekness: an effective way or condition of proving or measuring meekness are:
Position/power:
John 1: 1
Philippians 5: 2-11
2. Trials, persecution and adversity:
Are you the King of the Jew?
(John 18:36).
John 18:8
John 18:23
John 8:46
CHRIST: THE MEEK AND LOWLY
AN EXAMPLE IN HIS CHARACTER AND HIS TEACHINGS
Hebrews 7:26
Matthew 11:25-30
Christ teaches about meekness citing John the Baptist example is worthy of mention here.
John 1: 23
Christ testimony of John: Matthew 11: 11
3 -points
Substitutional Sacrifice:
1 John 3:5
How Is that going to be achieved ?---through meekness.
Meekness of the Lord Jesus Christ will do more for His mission. (Mission) Matthew 1: 2121 Isaiah 53:5
It was something He did as a substitute for the sinner. And he did it for me and you!
Examine Philippians 5: 2-11
7 but [c]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man,

= He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9
MEEKNESS IS REQUIRED FOR THE SCRIPTURES TO BE FULFILLED
Just as Joseph’s victory was in the famine, Christ’s victory over our sin is won on the Cross.

Even though He is so powerful and sovereign, He was willing to go all the to the cross, despising shame. Christ would put His Strength in control in order to accomplish His mission. (Meekness of the Lord Jesus Christ will do more for His mission)

Consider the choice of Judas Iscariot as one of the disciples. Have you ever wondered why Jesus would choose him? Christ is All-knowing. He knew Judas will betray Him but “That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die” (John 18:32). Jesus knew and had predicted what was coming.
