A Study on the Book of Romans - a Treatise of the Gospel The Gospel of God “good news” - God will forgive sins, and deliver from the power of sin, and also the penalty of sin (death) and will give you the GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS on the basis of GRACE and through FAITH when you believe in JESUS CHRIST His son who died for your sins on the cross and rose again to give you eternal life. He wrote this Epistle to the Romans … as a LEGAL TREATISE of the DOCTRINE OF THE GOSPEL There is only ONE GOD (Ch 3:30) … God of the Jews and the God of the Gentiles All Humanity (the whole world) is GUILTY - Ch 3:19 / 23 The wages of sin is death (Ch 6:23) There is no respect of persons with God - (Ch 2:11) Salvation is offered by GRACE alone through FAITH alone (Ch 3:28) When a person believes GOD his FAITH is counted for RIGHTEOUSNESS (Ch 4:5) We are HELPLESS , ungodly ….BUT when we were in this condition CHRIST DIED FOR US , sinners , ungodly …. He took our place (Substitution) Ch 5:6-8

Romans Ch 1 I. The Power of the Gospel - the GOSPEL carries the OMNIPOTENT POWER OF GOD - Dynamite - CONVICTS of SIN, it pierces the hearts and conscience of sinners - The Gospel is a SWORD / MIRROR - It’s the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD / the UNRIGHTEOUSNESS of man - It brings REPENTANCE and FAITH to the soul of every believer - It’s GIVE LIFE and NEW BIRTH to all who believe it II The PERIL of those who Suppress the Truth - they worship the creature rather than the CREATOR - they are corrupt in their thinking / full of PRIDE - given up to the lust of their own hearts (immortality & dishonour) - addicted to sin, and on a road that leads to destruction - The end of this road is eternal death The Gospel changes lives… Example: Saul of Tarsus - religious Jew / Pharisee / blasphemer / hater of Christians / murderer - rebellious and running from God …. THEN he met the LIVING RISEN JESUS
