When Jan Warner’s husband died in 2009, she felt as though her entire existence had been blown apart. Jan channeled that energy into creating Grief Speaks Out, a Facebook page with more than 2.4 million members from around the world, and into her book “Grief Day by Day.” She knows grief is an impossibly difficult landscape to navigate in normal times but in the midst of a pandemic things can seem even more difficult than before.

Jan Warner has led an eclectic life. With a Master’s in Counseling degree and training in hypnotherapy and NLP she has worked in child abuse prevention and suicide prevention. For a time, she owned a book store called The Turning Page. Jan never imagined that her life work would become supporting grieving people and educating others about the true nature of grief. Her FB page Grief Speaks Out is a loving community of over 2.4 million people from almost every country in the world. Her book, Grief Day by Day: Simple Practices and Daily Guidance for Living with Loss has sold more than 25,000 copies. Before the pandemic Jan was a vagabond who has been to all seven continents. She has produced documentary films and an off-Broadway play. Her favorite role in life is being a grandmother. Find out more about Jan and her work at facebook.com/griefspeaksout.
