Audry, member since 2004, identifies as a compulsive overeater and century person. Audry's share from the Tuesday evening Century Meeting includes the following themes: it gets better • what got me here • relating to OA's physical stories • food was big, family, & love • obese kid who was bullied & made fun of • culturally epic meals • food: metaphor for "I love you" • all members of immediate family in OA or have attended at least 1 meeting • anesthetizing & checking out • this is what fat girls go through • teen years & sick of being nice • addicts have extremes • using sexuality for attention • not seeing my body's value • gaining 130 pounds during 1st 2 years of sobriety • switching addictions (couldn't handle feelings) • coming to OA & knowing everything (credits don't transfer) • keep coming back saved my life • new food plan & crying over it • saying "yes" to something different • divorced & getting attention & learning not to eat over it • no sugar, flour, juice, or anything "sugar-free" • using Steps to grow up • sponsoring, praying, & attending 3 meetings/week
