i began writing the song during a really difficult relationship where she was healing from her past while I was giving my guts loving her best I knew how. It caused lots of disconnect and lack of communication and I think most people would’ve given up; lots of people told me to. But I learned that real love is laying your life down for others. Loving even harder when things get difficult. Forgive, assume the best, choose to see the gold, bear with peoples faults, latch onto hope. Committing and persisting through something some would say was hopeless was one of the most beautiful and vulnerable experiences I ever had and I’d never trade it.
