Episode 11: Rose Madder Part 1 - a podcast by Palaver: Unraveling Weird Lit

We are so excited to share our first collab with our constant listeners! Kim from The Year of Underrated Stephen King Podcast joins us as we venture into the dark and twisted tale of Rose Madder. All three of us agree that you might never encounter another Stephen King villain quite as diabolical as Norman Daniels. (AKA Normie because we all know he would hate that!) You will hear many trigger warnings during our telling of this story and we definitely recommend reading with a friend! Although this can be a rough listen at times, this is an amazing survival/warrior tale of a woman escaping her abusive husband and pulling herself back up onto her feet again. Join us as follow Rosie, arguably one of the best written female protagonist from Mr. King, in her journey of “awakening”.

Be warned, there will be SPOILERS & TRIGGERS ahead in this episode. If you would like a spoiler free experience, check out Stephen King’s novel Rose Madder! Don't forget to come back and join our weird book club once you've finished the story! As far as trigger warnings go, there will be mentions of domestic abuse, miscarriages, and graphic descriptions of violence. Since this is a summary of the book, we don’t go heavy into these descriptions, but if you read the book be warned that these descriptions are much more graphic.
