One of the hottest club music remix and production teams at the moment is Dirty Disco. Longtime rivals, friends, and now business partners DJs Mark De Lange and JD Arnold are from Houston, TX where De Lange owns several bars in the area including Bayou City Bar in Montrose and the Eagle while the two use their properties as testing grounds for new music. Between the two of them, they possess a long history in the club music scene that dates back to the late 70's and early 80's. With a musical biography that starts during the Disco era leading up to everything that's hot now, they apply their historical knowledge to create some of the most beloved and iconic tracks that provide the soundtrack to our gay lives.

I've chatted with Mark several times and can honestly say that not only is he a sweetheart, but his appreciation and understanding of the depths of dance music also aligns with mine. It literally takes this kind of firsthand experience to be able to create the modern-day soundscapes that populate the clubs. Personally, I'd put these guys on par with Barry Harris and Matt Consola who have been churning out some great floor-stompers the past decade.

I've had to rework this set three times before finally pulling together what I thought worked best. The music included in this legacy-defining set touches on a variety of genres from Tribal, House, Disco, and Progressive. Their catalog is so vast, that I was saddened when I had to drop a ton of tracks to keep it tight. Even then, this set clocks in just over 4 hours — as I decided not to break it in half. It literally is one giant glitter ball packed with originals, current hits and reworked classics and anthems.

Dirty Disco has been working on a new track for Pride that I had been anticipating and wanted to include in this set. Due to touring schedule conflicts with the fabulous Jeanie Tracy, her rendition of "Thank You For Being a Friend" has been delayed until next week. Yes, it's "that song" written and made famous in 1978 by Andrew Gold and later made even more famous as the theme song to the gay classic sitcom "Golden Girls" that ran from 1985 to 1992 but sung by Cynthia Fee. So there, I let the cat out of the bag. If they manage to get the track out by the end of next week, I 'may' go back and update this set with its inclusion.

For now, I've got to get to work on the 2019 Catch-Up series that I've been teasing for a month. I hope to have that out by the end of next week. After that, we jump head-on into summer.

I hope everyone has a SAFE [<--- I cannot emphasize that enough] and joyful PRIDE!

Until the next time...ENJOY!
