T-Dance Edition 2010 v2 | Take 3 - a podcast by Keith a.k.a. K j A M

Happy Friday everybody!  First off, I have some good news and some bad news.  Which one would you like first?  Since I can’t hear you, I’ll go with the obvious and deliver the good news first.

The good news is that I’m delivering the third installment of T-Dance 2010 v2 and due to circumstances beyond my control, it’s OTH.  That’s right!  All you freeloaders out there get a pass this go around.  It’s fresh, it’s funky and all I can say is burn, baby BURN!  You’ll get it once you hear the opening track.

Now on to the bad news.  The hosting service for my podcasts (Podbean) has yet to respond to my request to have my feeds reinstated.  Over the years, there have been so many issues with this company to numerous to enumerate, that I’ll just stick with the current problem.  I’ve been trying to set up a single feed for RSS and email subscribers.  Great, all done.  However, I also wanted to use the same feed for premium and standard podcast for my iTunes folks (and there are a lot of you).  I have isolated the problem to Feedburner (who I use to burn my feed).  For some reason, it’s creating enclosures for the cue files on the premium podcasts and showing it as a podcast in the feed.  As a result, iTunes is not picking up those podcasts.  I have gone back and changed the option in Feedburner to only create enclosures for audio files and then I re-synched my feed.  Even though I posted a question to this problem in their help forum, seldom if ever do you get a helpful response from anyone, so I’ll have to wait about 24 hours to see if this will work.

So what happens if this works?  Glad you asked.  Podbean currently masks the URL for the premium podcasts making it impossible for me to copy the link and paste it into my posts.  But you’ve always been able to do that before, right?  Yes, because when my site was hosted with Podbean, I could copy the URL from their site, after I had already published it.  The problem is that I changed the feed URL in Podbean to reflect the new Feedburner feed, which achieved one thing positive; It took my Podbean site out of view and people clicking on the link within Podbean would be directed to my current site with Blogger.  The problem now is that I don’t have the original URL for the premium podcasts to paste into my posts.  Catch22, I know.

At this point, I’m trying to get my original Podbean feeds restored.  I have emailed them multiple times to no avail.  Frankly, they’re probably sick and tired of my questions and I can’t fault them for that.  Then again, they always like to refer you to their FAQ section, which is poorly written and incomplete.  When I changed the feed, the option to change it back completely disappeared.  Sounds like a bug in their system and there is absolutely nothing written about this in their FAQ section, so I’m at their mercy.

I guess the next question is “why don’t I go with another service?”  For several reasons.  1) I have too much time and money invested with Podbean 2) I get 3gb a month for $40 and the next closest of their competitors offers 550mb for $80 a month 3) It would be too time-consuming and costly to move all of my existing podcasts over.  Blubrry wants $10 every gigabyte just to do that and at approximately 150gb, that’s just not an option.

So, David or Daphne (Podbean customer support), if you’re reading this please help me out so I can get back to business.  Please help out the wonderful followers who have supported my work so they can start downloading the podcasts via iTunes.  If anything, do it for the love of life, liberty, and your fellow man.  Better yet, do it for me, the loveable podcaster who has been with you since 2008.  I beseech you.

On a final note, I’ve already wrapped up next week’s three installments of the BPM Edition v4 and will be rolling those out...
