Party Favorz is back with volume three of the Ultimate 90's House Classics [1998 - 1999] and this set dives deep into progressive territory.

We kick the party off with one of our all-time favorties 'Lately' by Divine with Joanathan Peters performing remix duties. With it's ubeat synths and fantstic harmonies — 'Lately' packed floor every time it dropped.

Of course all the club favorites from this era are here like Faith Hill's 'Breathe' and the sweeping Hex Hector accompanying remix, 'Sexual' by Amber (a Thunderpuss instant classic), 'I Will Go With You' by Donna Summer that was packaged with the some of the biggest name DJs from that period, 'Someone To Hold' by Veronica showcasing Johnny Vicious' versatility who would go on to be an in demand DJ in the early millennium, Whitney Houston's defiant 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' (another Thunderpuss instant classic that takes the R&B original and jacks it up by a factor of 100 while blowing a hole in the roof with Whitney's powerful vocals - thank you Clive) and the massive 'You're Still the One' by Shania Twain courtesy of Soul Solution.

Some of you may be looking at this track list and scratching your heads over the inclusion of 'Ojos Asi' by Shakira. I grew up in South Texas and the Columbian born singer was already a massive star through Central America, Mexico and various pockets of the United States with large Latino populations. The song has a strong middle eastern sound and was not like anything else on her fourth album the critically acclaimed and multi-platnium 'Dónde Están los Ladrones? It was tacked on to what was otherwise a more rock and acoustic album that elicited comparisons to Alanis Morissette. Once the video dropped for 'Ojos Asi' all bets were off. The song blew up and Shakria had arrived.

Under the tutelage of Emilio Estefan (husban of Gloria Estefan), Shakira was primed to cross over into the American market and it would be two years before she dropped her first English language album 'Laundry Service' in the states.

The remix for 'Ojos Asi' is often credited to Thunderpuss but was actually Pablo Flores who was also producer on her album. The song was an instant floorfiller upon its release in 1999 and frankly, fits in nicely with the tracks that surround it.

Before there was Todrick Hall or Lil Nas X — there was Kevin Aviance. 'Rhythm Is My Bitch' was his second of three #1 dance club hits, which followed his 80's remake 'Din Da Da' and was proceeded by 'Alive' in 2002 with two other top 5 releases 'Give It Up' and 'Strut.' He had a cameo in Madonna's 'Secret' video and has worked with Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston. He was also a member of the vogue-ball house 'House of Aviance' and was a gender bending leader who paved the path for others. Check out the video below:

I've still got two possibly three more sets to go in this series. I'm setting a goal of getting them all out this next week without sacraficing tracks or quality. It gets harder once you start getting to the bottom but I'm convinced I can work it out. Until the next time...ENJOY!
