As Party Favorz winds down 2020 — it's time for our annual Top Dance Songs of the year non-stop dance music set(s). This series features the biggest dance hits of the year and this year really starts to shake things up.

Not since 2015 has the year-end dance music chart been this diverse in its offerings. The entire dance music scene is finally beginning to shake loose from it's tight-knit structure to more loosely reflect a wider variety of genres. Nowhere is this evident than the resurgence of Disco.

That's not to say that Disco music was the end-all this year but its reemergence hit at the right time. The 1970's and early 80's were considered a time of decadence and escapism from a downtrodden economy, long gas lines, high unemployment and Disco was the perfect escape to ease people's anxiety. Enter stage left Dua Lipa.

Its been said that Dua Lipa's sophomore effort "Future Nostalgia" was an iffy proposition for the young singer as it didn't fit in with what was being played at radio. However, she wasn't interested in making another "New Rules" set of songs and just wanted to make people feel good. After a live session was leaked online, she was forced to release the album earlier than the original pushed back timetable due to Covid. The gamble paid off in a BIG way.

"Future Nostalgia" received rave reviews (even from this writer) and was an uplifting breath of fresh air at a time when everyone had gone into lockdown. In short, it was just what the doctor ordered. Now she's received a record six nominations for "Don't Start Now" and "Future Nostalgia" — the gamble has paid off.

Equally exciting is the continued acceleration of DJ and music producer Purple Disco Machine. Party Favorz has been excited about the German native's work and featured him in a Legacy series because it was evident the man was going places. As usual, I was right because he's literally been all over the place in 2020 and is now branching out. The future looks bright for for PDM and Party Favorz looks forward to the continued promotion of his work.

In the next installment, I'll discuss the darker side of the year's biggest dance hits as well as the daunting task of compiling all the tracks that round out this set.

I'm in a bit of rushed mood to get these out in time. It took a week to pull everything together and then narrow down the tracks that would be used. However, it took one day putting this first set together and should be smooth sailing from here on out. I'll be back on Saturday with volume 2 of the Top Songs of 2020. Until then...ENJOY!

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Joe S. for his generous donation. While donations are not necessary — they are always needed and much welcome. So a big XOXO to Joe!

Juice WRLD's "Come And Go" was removed from this set. Not sure how it got there but it does not belong. The transition after "Say So" by Doja Cat was shortened.
