This set has been reworked by smoothing out transitions, which are better suited for preserving the integrity of this time capsule that was 2021 in dance music. Track listing has remained the same and no other significant changes were made.







2021 has been a rollercoaster of a year. Despite the depressing nature of one of the year's biggest dance hits 'Marea (We've Lost Dancing)' by Fred Again and The Blessed Madonna — dance music remained a constant in our lives. The song presented us with an optimistic outlook wrapped in a solemn deep house groove but truth be told — the hits kept rolling out and so we partied like it's 2099 or at least many of us did while attending super spreader events hosted by big name DJs (one of whom is featured prominently on this year-end list). I'm holding back, can you tell...oh fuck it!



Because of my circumstances, I've been fully prepared for the pandemic and the isolation that came with it, while many were having public meltdowns over wearing a mask. Cry me a fucking river if you refuse to get vaccinated and then bitch for having to wait hours on end in the emergency room with a broken foot because they're overflowing with covid patients. Cry me a river if you were fired from your job for refusing to not only protect yourself but your co-workers and family. I have little patience for self-serving science deniers (HELLO MOM) who have been the sole reason the pandemic has stretched into a second year and possibly a third. Seriously, FUCK YOU!



Climbs down from soapbox...



Now that I got that out of my system, Party Favorz is presenting our annual Top Dance Songs of the Year for 2021 and this series covers all the bases while hitting all the right notes. These are the songs that you hummed along to, danced by yourself to, played in your car on your way to work, or whatever it was you were doing to fill time. Future House, NuDisco and Tech House continued to dominate with Big Room still lurking behind. All the BIG and midling hits are here. Don't be fooled by these phony year-end lists created in Spotify with a bunch of radio edits because these novelists cant touch this shit. Sorry for the rough tone but I guess I have a lot to let out these days.



I'm way behind the curve on getting these sets out so I'm dropping the first volume — while keeping my fingers crossed — without the full airing and flushing out of errors or swapping track versions before releasing it. I promised volume one and you're getting it (warts and all). I hate rushing mixes but a series of year-end setbacks have diverted my attention, which is par for the course every year. I WILL be back with our annual New Year blow-out dance party set, which I'm shooting for a Thursday release to ensure our good friends in Australia get it in a timely manner (yes, I do think about everyone outside of the U.S. when scheduling releases).
