Unique among the tribes of ancient Israel, the Levites didn't receive an allotment of land; for these leaders of the priestly services ordained by God, "the Lord [was] their inheritance" (Deut. 10:9). However, they received designated cities within all the other tribal territories, as described in Joshua chapter 21, in which we'll find a special legacy for those who dedicate their lives to the worship & honoring of God.
