SCRIPTURE TEXT: Matthew 1:18-25  

Matthew chapter one tells “how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about” (v. 18), a story that brings us joy every year. It’s easy to overlook how bewildering & full of risk the Lord’s plans must have seemed to the people involved, though. Joseph, surmising that his impregnated fiancée Mary had been unfaithful, planned to separate from her. Then God’s light shone in the night, and an angelic dream changed his plans & our world. God's plans & purposes often prove very different from ours (Isaiah 55:8-9); sometimes we may feel "lost in the night." But the light of His miraculous PURPOSE will permeate our lives if we let Him into our dreams and give Him full rule over our preparations & plans this Christmas season and always.
