Prurigo nodularis (PN) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition marked by intensely pruritic, hyperkeratotic nodules distributed on the trunk and extremities. Severe itching contributes to scratching, bleeding, thickening of nodules, and scarring. PN can significantly reduce quality of life, affect sleep and mental health, and hamper participation in activities of daily living and social interaction. Until recently, there were no approved treatments for PN, but one agent has been granted a PN indication, and others are in late-stage development. In this activity, based on a recent live symposium, a panel of experts offers personal guidance on the pathophysiology, burden, and new and promising treatment options for PN. The discussion is enhanced by 3D animation depicting PN pathophysiology plus patient videos that provide compelling perspectives on the burdens of the disease and the experience of treatment. Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: Discuss the burden of disease and unmet needs experienced by patients with prurigo nodularis (PN); Explain how a growing understanding of PN pathophysiology has contributed to the development of novel therapeutic strategies; and Develop individualized treatment plans for PN in accordance with current evidence and expert recommendations using current and emerging treatment options as they become available.
