If there's one thing our society loves it's a murder for hire plot. News stations, media, and tabloids jump at the opportunity to report the drama and we are ready to consume it. Nathalie starts us off with the case of Dalia Dippolito. Having grown up in a nearby area, this was a local case that Nathalie followed back in 2009. After several failed attempts to murder her husband, Dalia turned to a friend to help her murder her husband. The friend quickly got the cops involved, ending in Dalia's arrest - a saga that was featured on Cops. Rachel discusses the case of Valerie Cincinelli, a former NYPD cop, who was arrested and charged in a murder-for-hire plot. Valerie wanted her current boyfriend, John DiRubba, to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband, Isaiah Carvalho Jr., and DiRubba's teenage daughter. DiRubba reached out to the FBI, which led to them staging a murder scene. While these stories are entertaining, it is important to remember the real people and families that are affected by these crimes. We discuss the aftermath of these cases, some common misconceptions about mental illness (specifically bipolar disorder), and the importance of seeking treatment.
