16. Celebrities: Winona Ryder & Jane Fonda - a podcast by Pink Collar Pod
from 2020-07-30T08:00
This week, we needed a palate cleanser after our predator episode. We keep things light by discussing celebrity crimes! Nathalie starts us off with the case of Winona Ryder, who you may recognize from Heathers and Beetlejuice (if you are old) or Stranger Things (if you are a youngin'). Winona was arrested in 2001 in Beverly Hills, California for stealing $5,500 worth of designer clothing and accessories. Rachel follows up with the case of the amazing Jane Fonda. Jane has always used her platform to promote her political activism. She was placed under government surveillance after hosting fundraisers for the Black Panther Party. After returning to the US from Canada, she was arrested on charges of drug smuggling. Although the chargers were later dropped, her mugshot photo, featuring Jane raising a fist, has become a symbol of defiance. More recently, Jane has been arrested in D.C. while protesting for the environment.
