Things are really heating up at Pink Collar! Our theme for this week is arson. First, Nathalie covers the case of convicted arsonist, Shirley Winters. Shirley's three siblings tragically died from a carbon monoxide leak when she was just a child. Shirley grew up and went on to have a family of her own. In 1976 her two children were killed in a cabin fire. While authorities blamed an electrical malfunction, it appeared there may have been a more sinister explanation. In fact, just the day before in a nearby cabin, Shirley's friend's children were also killed in a fire. Was Shirley just the most unlucky woman in the world? Or did she have something to do with the fires?
Next, Rachel tells the story of the worst woman on earth, Lizzie Halliday. Born in the late 1800s, Lizzie was a very erratic child with a violent temper. She started working at a young age but had a difficult time holding down a job. Lizzie was arrested for burning down her shop for the insurance money. After getting released, Lizzie got married (for the fifth time) to Paul Halliday. People started to grow suspicious of Lizzie when her neighbors down the road went missing...and then her husband went missing...was Lizzie responsible for these disappearances? Listen now to find out!
