This week marks the one-year anniversary of the Capitol riot. Our new poll with NPR and the PBS NewsHour asks Americans their thoughts about it one year later. Was it an "insurrection" or a "legitimate protest?" We also ask about opinions regarding the ongoing investigation. A majority believe it to be appropriate, but a significant minority characterize it as a witch hunt. As expected, there are clear partisan divisions on every question...but one.

Next, we look at Twitter as the social media platform approaches its 16th birthday. How do Americans use it and which ones use it most? Pew Research conducted a study looking at the behaviors and attitudes of Twitter users and there are some interesting -- and surprising -- findings.

Finally, we go way back in time to 1946 for our fun fact. Should the ability to swim be a requirement to graduate high school?

About Poll Hub

Each week, Poll Hub goes behind the science to explain how polling works, what polls really show, and what the numbers really mean. Poll Hub is produced by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, home of America’s leading independent college public opinion poll, the Marist Poll.

Lee Miringoff (Director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion), Barbara Carvalho (Director of the Marist Poll), and Jay DeDapper (Director of Innovation at the Marist Poll) dig deep to give you a look at the inner workings of polls and what they tell us about our world, our country, and ourselves.
