from 2018-08-23T04:05:38
Jesse Ataide grew up in the Mennonite Brethren Church on a peach tree farm in the California Central Valley. In his own words, Jesse entered university, "conservative, religious and straight" and graduated, "liberal, areligious and gay!"
Jesse shares how the musicians, Kacey Musgraves and Owen Pallett have resonated with him, as well as Richard Linklater's "Before Trilogy" of movies. Shaunna and Jesse also chat about 90s Contemporary Christian hits, Judy Garland and about how it wasn't that long ago that queerness itself was considered a mental illness.
