Herman Young was diagnosed HIV+ in 2002. in 2006 he was misdiagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma because his HIV numbers were "normal" so the Doctors assumed his swollen glands were Cancer. Herman was the very first HIV+ patient in the State of Michigan's' medical history to have a Liver Transplant, and to this day is the only HIV patient to have a Liver Transplant. Years back people thought why waste a perfectly good organ on someone who won't live too much longer. Herman Young is living proof that HIV patients can survive and thrive as transplant recipients.
