With a filmography including movies like Untamed Mistress, The Exotic Ones, King of the Bullwhip, Mesa of Lost Women, and Girl from Tobacco Row - Ron Ormond had established himself as a bonafide exploitation and grindhouse filmmaker in Nashville, Tennessee.
His signature schlocky style has undeniable charm. With his off-kilter visuals, surprisingly gory set-pieces, and experimental editing choices, the last thing any of his films can be accused of being is boring.
The most interesting of his directorial output, however, begins in 1971, when Ormond first partnered with fundamentalist pastor, Estus W. Pirkle, to direct the film, “If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?”
The film warned about the impending dangers of communism on American families and churches.
The second film to come from this unique collaborative team would come in 1974...
The title?
“The Burning Hell.”
