(July 23, 2021) As the production guru behind ‘90s soul-dance outfit Driza Bone, Vincent Garcia crafted memorable remixes of now-classic hits by the likes of Mary J. Blige, Jody Watley, and Lisa Stansfield. Following more than a decade spent largely out of the spotlight, he teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Mark Walker in 2014 to craft the mellow and nostalgic “Praying for Rain,” fronted by US-based Vince Durrell.

Although the track garnered notable attention via inclusion on a Soul Togetherness compilation, the album of the same title was shelved—until now. Recent interest in a cover of the late Beloyd Taylor’s “Get into Your Life” has brought the Garcia Walker & Durrell project back to life via Soul Intention Records. Simultaneously, more soul fans are discovering “Praying for Rain,” coming to appreciate the laid back vocal appeal of Durrell, songwriting craft of Walker, and production savvy of Garcia.
