Dr Sarah Brett is a holistic veterinarian from Kununurra in northern WA with a passion for natural and complementary therapies. She has been inspired by personal experiences of seeing how eastern therapies and body work can lead to enhanced healing compared to conventional medicine alone. Sarah and I discuss her approach to managing dermatological cases and how nutrition can form such an important foundation in the management of these often challenging cases.

Topics discussed include:

  • Sarah's personal experiences with her own dogs and how nutrition directly influences their skin health

  • The importance of adequate fats in the diet and what about those dogs that are prone to pancreatitis?

  • Sarah's favourite foods to add to a dog's diet for optimal skin health

  • A sneak peak to what Sarah puts in her famous "Brett's Brew"

  • The link between processed foods and high carbohydrate diets to poor skin health

  • Sarah's typical recipe for a homemade diet or some commercial alternatives she approves of

  • Some early indicators of poor skin health in dogs

  • How long it may take for skin health to improve once nutrition is addressed and specific therapies are introduced
