Royal Rumble 2016 marked the night AJ Styles debuted in WWE. In addition, Triple H won the Royal Rumble and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (world title reign number 14). Sasha Banks also returned and seemingly challenged WWE Divas Champion Charlotte.

 

1. Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Kevin Owens - Last Man Standing match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

2. The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) defeated The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso) in tag team match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Big E hits Jey Uso with the Big Ending after tagging into the match unbeknownst to the Usos.

3. Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio (c) in singles match to win the WWE United States Championship after Del Rio crashed into an exposed turnbuckle and Kalisto capitalized and hit him with the Solina del Salida del Sol

4. Charlotte (c) (with Ric Flair) defeated Becky Lynch in a singles match for the WWE Divas Championship. Ric Flair threw his coat over Becky Lynch's head when she was applying the Disarm-her to Charlotte. The Divas Champion then speared Becky and pinned her for the win.

5. 2016 Royal Rumble match - Triple H wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after eliminating Dean Ambrose
