The past week has been National Deaf Awareness Week 2020. This programme celebrates the music of composers who became deaf later in life plus one composer, Arvo Pärt, who commented when asked about progress in music: How many painters this word ‘progress’ has made blind! How many composers this word has made deaf!
Perhaps there’s more than one meaning in those words! But there can be no complaint about the music in this podcast ?
