Kitty Swink talks Star Trek DS9 and her Cancer Survivor Story

Many Trekkies know Kitty Swink from her two Star Trek DS9 appearances and for being the wife of Armin Shimerman, AKA Quark! However, Kitty has a story and career that go much deeper than her time in Trek, and today we get to dive into that tale.

Kitty played Bajoran Minister Rozahn in "Sanctuary" and a Vorta named Luaran in "Tacking Into The Wind" on DS9, but you'd be surprised to find out that being cast in the show was more difficult for her because she was Armin's spouse! Learn all about the makeup process for these characters, how she was cast, acting with Nana Visitor, Avery Brooks, Casey Biggs, Andrew Robinson, Rene Auberjonois, Salome Jens, and Trek Untold alumni Deborah May, and more from her DS9 appearances.

Swink also discusses her origins in acting, a few of her favorite film and TV roles, how she met her husband in NYC during their theater days and appearing on stage and screen with Armin multiple times through their careers, her work as co-artistic director of the Antaeus Theater in California, what she thinks needs to happen to make theater return and thrive in a post-pandemic world, and much more! But, most importantly, Kitty tells her amazing survivor story against pancreatic cancer, an illness that nearly took her life. It's a truly moving and heart-wrenching tale, one that everyone who has had cancer affect their lives can relate to.
