Most pregnant women make the decision to undergo some form prenatal aneuploidy testing—either a blood analyte-based test or the newer noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT). NIPT is a highly accurate screening test that can be performed early during pregnancy and provides the woman and her clinician with important information regarding the genetic health of the fetus.

This patient-clinician connection activity will demonstrate counseling strategies for discussing NIPT with patients. One vignette will focus on a patient considering NIPT; the second will focus on discussing the NIPT results, encompassing “negative,” positive,” and “no-call/indeterminate” outcomes.
