Episode 247 - Rebecca Schaeffer: The Case For Stalking Law - a podcast by Real Crime Profile / Wondery

from 2020-04-20T05:15:34

:: ::

Laura Richards, Jim Clemente and Lisa Zambetti talk with Brad Silberling, Rebecca Schaeffer's fiancé, about Rebecca to mark National Stalking Awareness Week in the UK.

Rebecca was stalked and murdered in 1989 by a fixated and obsessed "fan" (who we are intentionally not naming). He hired a private investigator to find out where she lived. He turned up, rang the bell, and when Rebecca answered, he shot her in the chest at point blank range.

Brad had spoken to her on the phone just minutes before and wished her luck as she was going to audition later that day for a part in The Godfather Part III.

Rebecca's case led to the first stalking law in the world.
