The new tax law encourages investment in economically distressed communities, called "Opportunity Zones." This is by far one of the best deductions available EVER!
These Opportunity Zones are expected to spur economic growth by allowing investors to defer tax on ANY prior gains through 2026, and if the property is held for 10 years, the investor will pay no tax on any new gain.
The Department of the Treasury officially designated more than 8.760 such zones. At this weekend's event, a developer will be sharing where those zones are located in the Chicago region.
