We drove from Black hills to Devil's Tower. We stayed at the KOA at devils Tower because it's the only Campground nearby. We try to avoid koa's. But not more not much we could do about this. It was very convenient and yes every evening they play the movie close encounters, which was set at Devil's Tower. And it is cool because you can see Devil's Tower in the background. However when they showed the movie it was on a TV screen, an old TV. The color was terrible the sound was terrible. Oh well. I thought maybe I would jump in the pool take a swim but the pool was green with algae. Shame on koa. By the time we got to the campground the topper had ripped halfway down it's length. So we cut it off totally. On the way out to Devil's Tower we're following the GPS and it looked like it was only going to take a half hour to do a 2-hour drive we weren't really sure what was going on so I pulled over. I compared the Garmin GPS with Google maps. And at that point I noticed the GPS was set to avoid highways which means we had to go through a small secondary road over the Rockies and our arrival time was actually 2:00 a.m. not 2:00 p.m. it was going to take us 13 hours to get there. Lesson learned there. When we got into Montana we stopped at a sporting goods store and bought a can of bear spray. We knew at this point we were no longer at the top of the food chain. Today's later we left doubles Tower in Wyoming and got into Montana we visited the town of Billings. There's a Cabela's there and camptonite there there's also a cracker barrel where we spent the night. Then we headed over to town called White sulfur springs. We stayed at a campground. So we decided to take a ride over into town and see what was there to see. Now again this is third week in August it was freezing cold. Trish had her long down coat on. We were walking the streets and then started sleeting so we decided let's go grab a glass of wine somewhere. There was two bars next to one another one was cold the stockman so being we were in Montana that's the bar we walked into. Once we walk to the door a guy said to us, hey where are you from? We went over had a conversation with this couple Patty and Kevin. Turns out they were originally from Pennsylvania and they lived about 20 minutes away from the bar. We sat with them for a couple hours and really enjoyed their company. We exchange phone numbers. And they said that forever in the area give me a call and we can stay at their property. Next day we left White sulfur springs and headed over to fort Benton Montana and a cute little downtown and a nice bridge to walk across the Missouri River. And then off to Shelby MT.
