Today Cora is in conversation with John Hackett, CEO of Arena Flowers, known as the United Kingdom's most ethical large scale florist.

Awarded a maximum score of 100 by the Ethical Company Index, Arena Flowers is at the vanguard of a new movement towards sustainability in the flower industry. Whereas it was once considered acceptable to fly tulips from Chile in summer and peonies from New Zealand in November, florists are now being held to higher environmental standards. Along with considerations on packaging, this also means prioritising local and seasonal varieties.

Today John and Cora will discuss whether or not a global floral industry can ever be truly sustainable, the nuances of supply chains, and the human impact of creating an ethical business and also the arguments for and against both localization and globalization.. This is a truly thought provoking conversation and we can’t wait to share it with you all!

"Arena Flowers was founded with the belief that any business sourcing a beautiful, delicate product should respect the obvious relationship we have with the natural environment and commit to making a positive impact on the communities we work with. Flowers in the home connect us to the natural world they came from and each of our designs represents more than beauty, they reflect the choices we have made to promote fairness, quality and care." - John Hackett
