Rink Wide kicked off on a somber note with Andrew Wadden and Jeff Paterson giving their thoughts on the hammering coming down at Sportsnet 650 to some close friends and colleagues.

Pivoting from that, the guys moved into the lack of cuts from the Canucks. No surprise that practice today was very meaty.

Daniel Wagner of VIA joined the show and started off chatting about Jack Rathbone. Says he has the potential to be a true difference maker. Thinks that this isn’t a battle for 3rd pairing LD. Talked about how interesting it is that he can handle his own with a very good group of NHL pros. Talked about Quinn Hughes. Talked about the trouble this team is in with their defensive depth. We knew two months ago that this was going to be a problem. Daniel thinks that waivers might be the best way to go if somehow the right player finds his way there. Talked about Podkolzin, who doesn’t quite know what he can and can’t do in the NHL yet. 

The guys moved on to chat out Phil Di Giuseppe and his chances of making the team. They heard from guys like PdG and his coach, Travis Green. We heard from Brad Hunt who shows great energy. JPat wants to take him to Subway.
