Israeli aircraft struck a series of targets in the Gaza Strip yesterday, while Palestinian militants launched rockets into Israel in the third consecutive night of fighting between the sides.

The increase in hostilities is being linked to an extraordinary prison break last week, where six Palestinians escaped a maximum security facility in Israel's north. So far, four of the six escapees have been recaptured.
