Liberal MP Trent Zimmerman says the government's Religious Discrimination Bill has been improved by the removal of the Folau and conscientious objections clauses.

But he's expressed alarm that the bill will still give primacy to religious views and could open the door to the discrimination of minority groups based on characteristics such as sexual orientation.
