The United States has announced a diplomatic boycott of next year's Beijing Winter Olympics due to China's record on human rights abuses.

Liberal Senator Eric Abetz, who has been lobbying the Morrison Government to do likewise, says he doesn't care about the likely retribution Australia would face if it keeps diplomats and officials away from the Games.
