The UN Security Council is meeting to discuss the deteriorating situation in Sudan in the wake of yesterday's military coup.

Thousands of demonstrators are continuing to protest, demanding a return to civilian rule after Sudan's prime minister and other officials of the transnational government were arrested by the military.

The US meanwhile has frozen 700 million US dollars in aid to Sudan.
