The number of children living in motels has reached a record high, despite the government's pledge to combat child poverty.
Latest figures released to Checkpoint show there were more than 4,300 children living in motels at the end of March.
That has jumped nearly 500 since the end of December.
It is a figure housing advocates say the country should be ashamed of, and they have solutions at the ready.
But the government says the spike is not representative of an overall trend, and it is working hard to get the numbers down.
Nita Blake-Persen reports.
